When are Colorado's reissued licenses released?
From mid-August, CPW posts a Reissue Preview List on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. MT and moves those hunt codes to the Leftover List for sale on Wednesdays at about 11 a.m. MT; no new codes are added after 1 p.m. on Wednesdays. Check CPW's page for this year's start date. CPW: leftover, remaining and reissued licenses. The online list refreshes every few minutes, so a code can show as available after it has sold.
Does buying a leftover license use preference points?
No. A license bought from the Leftover List does not use or earn preference points for the species, by CPW's leftover license rules as hunting publications summarize them; read CPW's page before you buy.

What does the checker show for each code?
- Points it took in CPW's 2024, 2025 and 2026 primary draws, residents and nonresidents: a code that drew out at high points in the draw is a rare find on the list.
- Licenses left after the 2026 draw, from CPW's Draw Recap report.
- Units and public land: the share of each unit that is national forest or BLM land. A code with little public land may need a landowner's permission.
- Hunter success in CPW's 2025 survey for that code, where CPW printed one.
