What is Percy WMA like?

This WMA is a mixture of mostly aspen timber, lowland brush and emergent wetlands. Aspen covers about 900 acres of the unit. The terrain is flat and generally wet. Until the unit is acquired from the State Trust, little management will occur.

The timber will be managed for commercial logging to satisfy the Trust Fund. Cutting mature timber will ensure future use by forest wildlife. Access needs to be acquired and developed. Commercial logging has occurred on 200 acres of the unit. The area needs boundary identification signs posted and better access. Walking access is possible from the road on the north edge. The unit provides almost 2,000 acres of wild land for a variety of aspen forest and brushland species. Large flocks of cranes can be seen here in September. Fall hunting opportunities include duck hunting, deer hunting and moose are often seen.
