What do hunters say about FilledTag?
The FilledTag iPhone app had 4 ratings on Apple's US App Store, all 5 stars (read 23 October 2026), and 3 hunters wrote to us that their plan's spots matched where they had seen game; below are their own words, and the 4 problems hunters and testers reported, with what we did about each.
Data updated October 23, 2026. App Store figures from Apple's public listing for the app in the United States.
What is the FilledTag app's App Store rating?
4 ratings, an average of 5.0 out of 5, as Apple's US App Store listed it on 23 October 2026. That is a small number from the app's first ten days in the store, and it is shown as it is. Read them yourself on the App Store listing.
What have hunters written about their plans?
“Just looked at all the 'sit' pins, and I have seen deer at or coming / going from every single one of those.”
“Just looked through the plan, looks great. Coincided with where we were spotting elk yesterday and where we were thinking of focusing on more.”
“Also, during muzzleloader I shot at a decent bull elk, but missed, :( less than 100 yards from where one of the 'Plans' said I should sit, and in 1st rifle someone shot a nice 6x6 in approximately that same spot!”
These are the hunters' exact words, from emails sent to us. Each is one hunter's experience, and sightings are not kills. A plan is a legal place to park, camp and sit; it does not promise an animal.
What problems have hunters and testers reported?
The complaints matter more than the praise, because they are what gets fixed. Every problem reported to us in October 2026, and where each stands:
| What was reported | By | What we did | Where it stands |
|---|---|---|---|
| On a plan page, the dark text in the boxes was nearly unreadable on a light screen. | A Colorado small game hunter testing a plan, October 2026 | A real bug, on every small game plan. Fixed the same day; he wrote back that the boxes were much easier to read. | Fixed |
| The location button in the Android app did not show where he was. | An Android tester, October 2026 | The Android app he had was the website inside a wrapper. It was replaced by the full app, whose locate arrow follows you on the map. He has not yet told us whether it works on his phone. | Replaced; not yet confirmed by him |
| The automatic walking path did not take private and public land into account. | The same Android tester, October 2026 | The path finder now warns when a path crosses private land. It does not yet route around private land by itself. | Partly fixed |
| A property line he was standing on was not drawn on the map. | A Colorado tester, October 2026 | Colorado's state parcel map was missing 20 counties. The map and app now also ask 10 counties' own parcel maps, and saved areas keep the lines and owners for use with no signal. Counties that publish no parcel map online still show no lines. | Fixed where the county publishes a map |
How are these chosen?
- Only words a hunter sent us, unedited. Nothing is written for them and nothing is paid for.
- No names, no hunting units and no place smaller than a state, so no one can tell who wrote it or where their plan sent them. A quote comes down the moment its writer asks.
- Testers' reports are described in our words rather than quoted.
- We never ask for a review in a message that gives anything: no plan, code, membership or discount in exchange for words.
- So far only a handful of hunters have written about their plans, because the first plans went out this October and most seasons are still running. After-hunt reports, good and bad, will be added here as they come in.
