From SCDNR's property page: "The SC Department of Natural Resources (DNR) purchased the McConnells Tract in 1974 from Mr. Joe D. Smith and Ms. Alma S. Griffin using York County game and fish funds. When the deed was recorded in 1974, the property was incorrectly conveyed to York County and it was not until April 30, 1985, that a quitclaim deed by theYork County Council was executed and the property was correctly deeded to the DNR. The DNR McConnells Tract consists of 249 acres and lies approximately 1.5 miles west northwest of the town of McConnells, SC. It is located south of Turkey Creek near the intersection of county roads 888 (Parson Road) and 169 (Simpson Road)."
