Bring your pins, routes and tracks in from another map app
Years of pins should not be locked in one app. Save them out as a GPX or KML file, bring that file in here, and your waypoints, routes, recorded tracks and areas arrive with their names and colours.
How to do it
- In the app you use now, find its export or share option and save your waypoints, routes and tracks as a GPX or KML file. Most map apps and GPS units can do this, usually from their website on a computer.
- Open the FilledTag map and press Import in the tool bar.
- Choose the file. Pins, routes, tracks and areas are drawn at once.
- Sign in, free, with your email, and they are kept on your account, so they are there on any computer or phone you sign in on.
What comes across
- Waypoints as pins, with their names and notes.
- Routes and recorded tracks as lines, in their own colours.
- Areas as shapes.
And out again
Everything you draw or record here can be saved out as GPX or KML too, so your places are never stuck in one map. A single pin can be sent to a hunting partner as a link.
What to check afterwards
- Very long tracks are thinned so they draw quickly: the shape is kept, a few of the points along it are not.
- Photos attached to a waypoint in another app do not travel in a GPX or KML file.
- Icons differ from app to app. Give each pin its kind here: there are 74 to choose from. See hunting pins and what they mark.
The map shows the ground. A plan tells you where to go.
The map is free. A FilledTag hunt plan is the paid part: for your tag and where you drive from, one exact plan with a legal place to park, a camp, morning and evening spots and the walk between them, checked against land records.
