Why FilledTag exists
FilledTag is here to get new hunters outside: free maps and data, honest hunt plans and the know-how to read the ground, at a price anyone can afford, so nobody has to figure this out alone.
I learned alone
I didn't grow up with a hunting mentor. I didn't have family land, or enough friends who hunted to tell me where to go or what to look for. I learned by myself: reading maps, reading regulations, and making a lot of mistakes in the field.
A lot of people never get past that point. Nearly 4 in 10 people who pass hunter education never buy a hunting license in their state. It isn't for lack of wanting to. They don't know where to start, and the tools that could help are often locked behind expensive subscriptions.
I don't want anyone else to have to go through that alone.
The kickstart I wish I'd had
- Free maps and data for anyone. Public land, hunt units, draw results and the rules for every state wildlife area, each number from the state agency that published it, with its source and date.
- Hunt plans that teach. A plan shows where you can legally park, camp and sit, and why that ground makes sense, so you learn to read it yourself.
- A price anyone can afford. The map and the reference pages are free. A plan is one price, paid once, with a lifetime of stories, mounts and meat in the freezer ahead.
- Honest rules. No animal locations, no cameras, no live tracking, and never two hunters sent to the same ground. Fair chase ยท What we promise
The goal is that you won't need us
The point isn't to make you depend on an app. It's to get you outside, help you fall in love with hunting fast, and teach you enough that next season you can open the map and build your own plan, because you know what the ground is supposed to look like.
Every season we learn from the hunters who use FilledTag and tell us how it went, good and bad. That is what the next plans are built on.
