Colorado GMU 59 elk hunting: 2024 harvest and hunter numbers

Unit 59 covers about 646 square miles in Pueblo, Fremont, El Paso and Teller counties.

In 2024, an estimated 704 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 59 across all seasons and took 135 elk, a success rate of 19%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 23 fewer hunters than 2023, when success was 8%.

2nd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 126 hunters, about 20 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

1st rifle had the highest rifle success at 30%.
