MassWildlife describes it: "Powell Brook WMA is comprised of two separate parcels. Both sections consist of moderately sloped, hilly terrain. Most of the area is forested with a mixture of hardwoods (predominantly American beech and sugar maple) and softwoods (predominantly eastern hemlock and white pine). Powell Brook forms the northern boundary of the northern parcel. It joins with Kearney Brook which flows south and becomes Bronson Brook.
