Colorado GMU 14 elk hunting: 2024 harvest and hunter numbers

Unit 14 covers about 409 square miles in Routt and Grand counties.

In 2024, an estimated 1,293 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 14 across all seasons and took 151 elk, a success rate of 12%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 745 fewer hunters than 2023, when success was 6%.

2nd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 167 hunters, about 41 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

1st rifle had the highest rifle success at 24%.

Among the 130 units with at least 100 rifle elk hunters, unit 14 ranked 72 for rifle success and 33 for fewest rifle hunters per square mile.
