Unit 131 covers about 193 square miles in Routt and Rio Blanco counties.

In 2024, an estimated 872 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 131 across all seasons and took 198 elk, a success rate of 23%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 155 fewer hunters than 2023, when success was 19%.

2nd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 207 hunters, about 107 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

1st rifle had the highest rifle success at 38%.
