Unit 444 covers about 371 square miles in Eagle, Garfield and Pitkin counties.

In 2024, an estimated 613 deer hunters hunted Game Management Unit 444 across all seasons and took 242 deer, a success rate of 39%. The statewide rate that year was 43%.

That is 66 fewer hunters than 2023, when success was 42%.

2nd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 283 hunters, about 76 for every 100 square miles of the unit.
