Unit 444 covers about 371 square miles in Eagle, Garfield and Pitkin counties.

In 2024, an estimated 1,199 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 444 across all seasons and took 254 elk, a success rate of 21%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 207 more hunters than 2023, when success was 17%.
