Unit 47 covers about 294 square miles in Eagle and Pitkin counties.

In 2024, an estimated 543 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 47 across all seasons and took 78 elk, a success rate of 14%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 103 more hunters than 2023, when success was 18%.

2nd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 257 hunters, about 87 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

4th rifle had the highest rifle success at 29%.
