Colorado GMU 35 elk hunting: 2024 harvest and hunter numbers

Unit 35 covers about 268 square miles in Eagle County.

In 2024, an estimated 1,008 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 35 across all seasons and took 168 elk, a success rate of 17%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 15 more hunters than 2023, when success was 13%.

2nd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 280 hunters, about 104 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

4th rifle had the highest rifle success at 36%.

Among the 130 units with at least 100 rifle elk hunters, unit 35 ranked 77 for rifle success and 93 for fewest rifle hunters per square mile.
