Unit 34 covers about 193 square miles in Garfield and Eagle counties.

In 2024, an estimated 1,002 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 34 across all seasons and took 102 elk, a success rate of 10%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 50 more hunters than 2023, when success was 9%.

2nd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 230 hunters, about 119 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

4th rifle had the highest rifle success at 15%.
