Unit 66 covers about 899 square miles in Gunnison, Hinsdale and Saguache counties.

In 2024, an estimated 465 deer hunters hunted Game Management Unit 66 across all seasons and took 346 deer, a success rate of 74%. The statewide rate that year was 43%.

That is 46 fewer hunters than 2023, when success was 66%.

2nd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 236 hunters, about 26 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

3rd rifle had the highest rifle success at 88%.
