Unit 86 covers about 496 square miles in Fremont, Custer and Chaffee counties.

In 2024, an estimated 450 deer hunters hunted Game Management Unit 86 across all seasons and took 168 deer, a success rate of 37%. The statewide rate that year was 43%.
