Unit 30 covers about 869 square miles in Garfield and Mesa counties.

In 2024, an estimated 994 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 30 across all seasons and took 250 elk, a success rate of 25%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 132 fewer hunters than 2023, when success was 12%.

3rd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 241 hunters, about 28 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

4th rifle had the highest rifle success at 44%.

Among the 130 units with at least 100 rifle elk hunters, unit 30 ranked 43 for rifle success and 36 for fewest rifle hunters per square mile.
