Unit 39 covers about 369 square miles in Jefferson, Clear Creek and Park counties.

In 2024, an estimated 459 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 39 across all seasons and took 143 elk, a success rate of 31%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 34 more hunters than 2023, when success was 28%.

1st rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 78 hunters, about 21 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

2nd rifle had the highest rifle success at 31%.

Among the 130 units with at least 100 rifle elk hunters, unit 39 ranked 46 for rifle success and 32 for fewest rifle hunters per square mile.
