Unit 4 covers about 468 square miles in Moffat and Routt counties.

In 2024, an estimated 1,541 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 4 across all seasons and took 379 elk, a success rate of 25%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 694 fewer hunters than 2023, when success was 21%.

2nd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 408 hunters, about 87 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

1st rifle had the highest rifle success at 24%.
