Colorado Elk E-Scouting Service: Plans From $39
A Colorado elk and deer e-scouting service for any unit. One finished plan for your tag, checked against public land and road rules, from $39.
FilledTag is an e-scouting service for Colorado elk and mule deer. You tell us your tag and where you drive from. You get one finished plan for that hunt: where to park, where to camp, where to sit morning and evening, and the walks between them. It covers every game management unit in the state and costs $39.
What you get
- A legal place to leave the truck, on a road open to motor vehicles.
- A camp, off the road and near water, or a plan built around the camp you already have.
- Morning and evening sits, each with coordinates, the time to leave camp, the shot distance and the wind that makes it wrong.
- Where to go at midday.
- Every walk measured: miles, climb and minutes, inside the limits you gave.
- Your unit's numbers: hunters, harvest and crowding in your season, from state estimates.
- The rules for your tag: legal hours, orange and the antler rule, from the 2026 state brochure.
- Files for your map app: KML and GPX with every pin and route, plus a page to print.

What it costs, next to the other ways to do it
| How it is done | Typical price in 2026 |
|---|---|
| A FilledTag plan for one hunt | $39 |
| A FilledTag season pass, up to three plans | $79 |
| A person e-scouting one unit by hand | $500 to $600 |
| Hand e-scouting plus scouting on the ground | $1,000 to $1,600 |
Hand-built prices are what Colorado scouting services and outfitters published in October 2026. The full comparison, with what each option includes, is here: https://www.filledtag.com/guides/e-scouting-service-cost/
Who it is for
- Hunters coming from out of state. You get one week. A nonresident elk license is $845.16 in 2026 before fuel and time off. The plan is so you do not spend the first two days of it finding where to park.
- Newer hunters. If you have a tag and no one to ask, the plan gives you a specific place to start and the reasons for it.
- Anyone hunting a unit for the first time.
If you have hunted the same drainage for ten years, you do not need this.
How it works
- Check your hunt, free. Six quick answers: your tag, your unit and where you drive from. You see right away whether your unit is covered.
- Choose a plan. One hunt for $39, or a season pass for $79.
- Finish the details. How far you will walk, how you camp, your party and vehicle. About two minutes.
- Get the plan by email within two days. Full refund if no legal plan fits your limits.
Built on data and research
A plan is not one person's opinion of a few favorite spots. It is built from public land and road records, terrain, cover and water across the whole unit, and from what published elk and deer studies show about where animals go once rifle season starts. Elk move with pressure, weather and feed; the plan is worked out for your season and dates, and it gives the reasons for the ground it picks. The research behind it is summarized in our guides: https://www.filledtag.com/guides/
What is checked
Each pin and each route is checked against public land ownership records. Roads are checked against Forest Service motor vehicle rules. Camps are kept back from roads and water. The plan lists what was checked and what was not, so you know what to confirm yourself.
You still have to confirm land status, closures and regulations before you hunt. Records can be wrong or out of date.
What it is not
It does not track animals and does not know where they are today. It has not been walked by a person. It is not a guide or outfitting service: no one goes with you, and nothing is provided in the field.
Units covered
Every Colorado game management unit, for the four rifle seasons. Look up yours: https://www.filledtag.com/colorado/elk/ and https://www.filledtag.com/colorado/deer/
Check your hunt before you pay anything
Six quick answers and you will see whether your unit and start point are covered. Plans start at $39, with a full refund if no legal plan fits.
This is our first season, so the plans are unproven. Treat the plan as a starting point and verify everything on the ground, including access, closures and land ownership. No plan can promise an elk.
