Colorado GMU 38 deer hunting: 2024 harvest and hunter numbers

Unit 38 covers about 456 square miles in Gilpin, Boulder, Clear Creek and Jefferson counties.

In 2024, an estimated 1,129 deer hunters hunted Game Management Unit 38 across all seasons and took 275 deer, a success rate of 24%. The statewide rate that year was 43%.

That is 146 fewer hunters than 2023, when success was 20%.

3rd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 148 hunters, about 32 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

4th rifle had the highest rifle success at 24%.
