Unit 52 covers about 265 square miles in Delta and Gunnison counties.

In 2024, an estimated 1,423 elk hunters hunted Game Management Unit 52 across all seasons and took 252 elk, a success rate of 18%. The statewide rate that year was 20%.

That is 29 fewer hunters than 2023, when success was 12%.

2nd rifle was the busiest rifle season, with 506 hunters, about 191 for every 100 square miles of the unit.

4th rifle had the highest rifle success at 21%.

Among the 130 units with at least 100 rifle elk hunters, unit 52 ranked 83 for rifle success and 114 for fewest rifle hunters per square mile.
