In CPW's 2026 primary elk draw, 6 elk hunt codes drew out at 8 to 9 preference points for residents, 409 licenses in all, and 15 drew out at 8 to 9 preference points for nonresidents. A resident who listed one of them first with that many points drew it. Residents with fewer points drew 977 other codes outright or at lower levels.
