New Mexico Barbary sheep hunting: every hunt area, the draw and harvest
NMDOW's 2026-27 booklet lists 23 Barbary sheep hunt codes, 22 of them drawn with 2,120 licenses, in 6 of the state's 70 game management units (NMDOW 2026-27 Hunting Rules and Information, pages 111 to 112). In the 2026 draw, 15,037 applicants chose a Barbary sheep hunt as their first choice. In 2025-26, NMDGF reports 3,644 licenses sold, 3,230 hunters reporting, a 36% success rate, 652 rams and 333 ewes taken statewide.
